Art by Jenny Gini

Biography

An only child, Jenny Gini grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. She turned to drawing for self-entertainment, spending hours drawing the images that intrigued her. The saturation of a surreal culture of showgirls, juxtaposed by the starkly beautiful desert landscape, created a fascination with women's faces, and the human form as well as an appreciation for sunsets and silhouettes. These early themes soon became a strong area of concentration in her art.

As a young adult, Jenny left Las Vegas for the drastically different surroundings of Northern California. Living several years in Santa Cruz and San Francisco while absorbing the surroundings, she studied art and earned her bachelor’s degree at San Francisco University. With a degree in Fine Art, she returned to Las Vegas. Fueled by her passion for art, and spurred on by the desire to share the joy of creating, she spent six years teaching secondary art in the inner city schools.

Jenny is currently a resident in the Seattle area. For the past year her focus has shifted to creating and displaying her own growing portfolio of artwork. Her early influences still play a large role in her work, and the female face or figure can often be found as the main focus. The body of her work is mainly acrylic in medium. Her subjects range from graphic soulful portraits, to snapshot scenes of people in places, to surrealist nature compositions where figures are the scenery.
